La Vie En Rose

Bride to be blogging her journey to the perfect day...

Say Cheese!

OK, so an engagement shoot is a pretty big deal! The pressure was on to find the perfect photographer…then along came ten21 photography! You can follow their blog on tumblr:

We didn’t want a traditional studio shot, cause it would have been pretty awkward and a bit put on, so we chose ten21 because they do the shoots on location.

We decided to go to Portglenone Forest, on a very cold, snowy, icy day in January! It really was such a fun day, and ten21 captured the feeling of the day perfectly! They were so friendly, professional and understanding…there was a lot of slipping and sliding going on!

I’ll leave you with my favourite pictures, and the wee engagement gift my beautiful sister made for me…gorgeous!

Diamonds are forever…

My fiancé proposed with a stand-in ring which was chosen by my sneaky sister - turns out my whole family knew he was going to propose before I did! We’d been together for five years before the proposal, so, needless to say I’d been scouting out the perfect ring!

On Boxing Day, we headed up to the new Lunn’s store in Victoria Square which, by the way, is beautiful!

After being informed of the 4 C’s when deciding on a diamond, after all, it is a very important investment, we got down to the important bit…choosing the ring!

I knew I wanted a ring that wouldn’t date…something timeless that I could pass on to future generations. When I explained what I wanted the wee salesman looked a bit frightened, because I was very specific, but when he brought out the tray, I fell in love! I originally wanted a square shaped stone, but it looked too big on my finger, so I went for a round one. It’s similar to the photo below, but mine has additional diamonds on the shoulders.

I love pretty things, and I think my ring is just beautiful! It reflects my style and my personality, and I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to choose it together. After we chose the ring we celebrated with a glass of champagne and went home to show it off to our families!

Suddenly, our engagement felt more official, and I was eager to capture that feeling. Next step…our engagement shoot!

“Yes!”

When we started thinking about where to go on a Winter break my first thought was PARIS! I wasn’t sure that my boyfriend shared my enthusiasm, but when I promised that Disneyland was involved he warmed to the idea! Little did I know, Paris + December = FREEZING! There are actual icicles on the fountain in the picture above!

However, all was not lost…

After spending our last day in Paris we made our way to the top of the Eiffel Tower where, against the backdrop of a perfect December evening, Paris truly lived up to it’s reputation as the City of Lights. I was in awe, and I was totally speechless at the sight. It really couldn’t have been a more perfect moment…until he proposed! Of course I said “Yes!”

Now all we had to do was pick the ring…
